Probably one of the easiest things to say , or is it? Have you ever been in a situation where someone close to you (family member/friend/associate…) achieved what you have always wanted to achieve? or did what you have always wanted to do? I do not recall of such an event and I am thankful because I do not know how I could have handled it.
I consider myself to be very empathetic and so I understand what it may feel like to be in that situation. Today I want us to learn how to say congratulations and mean it. I think the first and most important step is to remove ourselves from the equation. Look at the persons success as nothing but their success. It has nothing to do with you, it should not be bothering you and most certainly should not be giving you sleepless nights. It has nothing to do with you!
When you look at the persons success and you compare their success with where you are in your life , you remove the essence of it all. We need to learn to be happy for people especially when they do good or when they are happy. Stop thinking about how far along they are getting in life and how far behind you are. You will get what belongs to you at the right time . Be patient while you wait your turn. Congratulate those that make it before you. Your personal goals are a competition against yourself and no one else. No one can beat you to it. It is not a race of who gets there first, it is about getting there, it is about the fulfilment of your own dreams.
Learn to trust that when the time is right and you are ready you will make it. My number one motivation in life is that the will of God always prevails in my life. If something is not happening in my life it was not His will and I truly find comfort in this. We make a lot of plans in life and we put time limits to them and guess what? Our timing is not like the Lords timing. Proverbs 16:9 “we may make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps”
Sometimes I feel like I am just not ready for the things I am asking for. Have you ever been so tired while walking and wanted a car immediately? I know I have. But would I be able to maintain and keep the car? Would it make my life better or worse? And the answers make me realise how sometimes we think we want things when I fact we do not. In conclusion, trust the process, trust that you are becoming the woman/ man you have always wanted to be and you will achieve all you have ever dreamt of when the time is right. In the mean time remember to clap for those who make it. say congratulations and mean it. Some day it will be said to you just as you say it.
Closing quote “One of the sanest, surest, and most generous joys of life comes from being happy over the good fortune of others “
