Ultimate Guide: Adulting 101

“Be careful the shoulder you cry on, your tears are watering the plant he will use to poison you” Fakude.N

Some people thrive on making other people feel small, they are made whole by seeing other people down. I think the worst feeling ever is when they pretend to care, or act like they are not as transparent that you could see through them.  Be careful of people who will talk about themselves and their “interesting lives” and not even ask you how you are. We all have that one person, you know everything about them but if you were a test they would not only fail dismally they would probably be the least performing student in class.

You have dreams don’t you? You have a picture of who you want to be and an idea of where you want to be, do not allow anything or anyone derail you. This is a treasure hunt. Fortunately for you, you have the map in your hand. Ignore the barking dogs and concentrate on the goal. Cheer yourself on and keep on going. Wake up every day and decide to be happy. Make the decision to improve yourself for the better, the decision to be kind, to be loving, to be confident, to be positive. Bottom line, wake up with a plan.

If I had to write a letter to my younger self it would probably end with the following:#1 “Don’t play yourself.” #2 Remember the dream. #3 Let them sleep on your greatness. It is very important to have plans, to visit them every once in a while and find motivation. To remember why you started, to remind yourself of the enthusiasm that burnt your heart when you thought of the dream. If you are being underestimated that is even better, trust me the satisfaction of having to prove people wrong is far more great. Just do not forget who you are and where you come from.

Proverbs 4:23 “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
